British Nutrition Foundation Drummond Awards 2025

The British Nutrition Foundation offers a number of awards, recognising excellence in the field of nutrition. The Awards are made possible through the Foundation’s management of the Drummond Memorial Fund, established in memory of the work and contribution of Sir Jack Drummond.

The Foundation would like to highlight the upcoming deadlines for receiving applications and nominations (listed below).

The BNF Prize

The Foundation is inviting nominations for the British Nutrition Foundation Prize. The Prize will be awarded to a UK-based leader in nutrition, who has made an outstanding contribution to the field over a number of years. This will be judged by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Advisory Committee and Scientific Committee.

If you would like to submit a nomination, please follow the instructions which can be found by clicking this link. Nominations must be received by 4 May 2025.

Early Career Scientist Award

This award recognises early career nutrition scientists, whether working in academia, policy or industry, who show great potential to be future leaders in the field. Applications are welcome from any country. Applicants are required to complete an application form and submit an abstract that could be turned into a mini review describing an emerging, topical area of human nutrition science that would be suitable for submission to the British Nutrition Foundation’s peer-reviewed journal Nutrition Bulletin.

Full details including eligibility criteria and information about previous winners can be found by clicking this link. Applications must be received by midnight on 11 May 2025.

Pump Priming Award

The Foundation is once again providing the opportunity to apply for a pump priming grant of £5000 in 2025. This is in order to help a UK-based early-stage postdoctoral researcher or university lecturer working in human nutrition to undertake the pilot work needed to generate data that can be used as the basis of a more substantial grant application.

Full details including eligibility criteria, how to apply and information about previous winners can be found by clicking this link. Applications must be received by midnight on 8 June 2025.

The Community Award

The community award recognises an individual (e.g. a health professional, teacher or volunteer) or a group that has undertaken a community initiative to support healthier eating in an underserved group(s) in the UK. Individuals must be nominated (self-nominations will not be accepted) in order to be considered for this award; however the nominee is required to complete one section of the application form and to submit the application.

If you know of a worthy winner, you are encouraged to nominate them. Full details including information about previous winners can be found by clicking this link. Applications must be received by midnight on 8 June 2025.
